Canadian Grizzlies was founded by a group of families committed to creating an environment in which young hockey players can better appreciate the principles and benefits of sport and gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.
OUR PURPOSE
Canadian Grizzlies is a western Canada-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to
the educational, athletic and cultural development of youth through Canada’s best-known
sport – ice hockey. Canadian Grizzlies was founded by a group of families committed to creating
an environment in which young hockey players can better appreciate the principles and benefits of sport and gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.
Ultimately, Canadian Grizzlies will connect its players and their families to people and cultures of other hockey-playing countries. In 2025, members of Canadian Grizzlies will tour Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Czechia immersing themselves in local cultures, meeting new families
and playing games in each of those countries.
Our goal is to make life-long connections, reciprocate and host these families and teams in the future. We would endeavor to help them in setting up games in Alberta and British Columbia and invite their families to tour our beautiful country.
Our members and community partners believe that victory is measured by more than a
game’s final score; a family’s commitment and respect for the game are as important
as a player’s ability; and true knowledge and understanding are more meaningful when gained
by first-hand experiences. All funds raised by Canadian Grizzlies are used exclusively to
support those beliefs and keep costs manageable so all families, regardless of their personal financial situations, can participate.
THE ROUTE
We will start and end our tour in Munich, Germany and will be playing 7 games, starting in Landshut, Germany, then going to Karlovy Vary and Pilzen in Czechia, with a tour stop in Prague. We will then make our way to Salzburg and Innsbruck in Austria, Bolzano in Italy and finally in Davos Switzerland, home of the Spengler Cup.
